Moot & Mock Trial Committee

Training Law students in advocacy, courtroom etiquette, and case analysis through moots, mock trials and advocacy workshops.

The Moot & Mock Trial Committee is responsible for planning and executing advocacy-focused programmes for Law students. This includes internal moot competitions, inter-faculty contests and preparation for external advocacy events.

By simulating courtroom proceedings and appellate advocacy, the Committee helps students develop research skills, legal writing skills, oral advocacy, and confidence before a bench.

Programme Highlights

Foundational Advocacy

Introductory sessions for 100–200 Level students on the basics of mooting, oral presentation and court decorum.

Intermediate Moots

Structured internal competitions that guide students on research, skeleton arguments and timed submissions before a panel.

Advanced Preparation

Focused preparation of teams representing JABU at inter-university and external competitions, including brief writing and rehearsals.

Joining the Committee

How interested students can become part of the Moot & Mock Trial Committee.

Calls for membership or volunteers are usually announced at the start of the academic session or ahead of major competitions. Interested students may be required to submit a short statement of interest or participate in a brief advocacy audition.

Both beginners and experienced mooters are welcome. The Committee values commitment, willingness to learn and respect for teamwork.
